Quality Assurance

The responsibility of the quality assurance division is to ensure that the quality of the maintenance done on the aircraft is in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and company policies and procedures. In addition, it includes the management of the technical records system and training for all maintenance personnel.

Adding new aircraft, especially when they are positioned in various parts of the world, challenges us to always seek out new ways to streamline methods for greater efficiencies. All of this while ensuring safety is never compromised.

In January of 2008, we will start changes to our quality assurance program to include a new Transport Canada regulated safety management system (SMS). Cougar has operated a SMS for many years, however, this will result in our system becoming Transport Canada certified.

As quality assurance, our goal is to be proactive to prevent any incidents from happening. The safety management system (SMS) assists with achieving that goal.

For this division specifically, the safety focus is directly on aircraft and aeronautical components. We ensure the maintenance is accomplished on the aircraft in a manner that does not jeopardize the safety and airworthiness of the aircraft.

Cougar's auditing program also impacts safety by ensuring that any problem or potential problem is identified quickly and rectified immediately. We are continually expanding and improving our internal auditing program which now also encompasses our global operations.

Employees of the quality assurance division must complete and remain current with Human Factors concepts. They also receive technical records training and training on the software databases we are using.
